Colombian authorities seized $113 million worth of cocaine in the largest drug bust of the year, equivalent to 8 million doses of the narcotic. The Colombian navy, aided by the Colombian Air Force and the US Southern Command, intercepted a boat in the Caribbean Sea following a high-speed chase. Five individuals were arrested, and 3.3 tons of cocaine were confiscated. This marked the second significant drug seizure of the week after 1.7 tons of cocaine hidden in avocados were discovered in Santa Marta. Colombia is a major producer of cocaine, creating 70% to 80% of the world’s supply weekly according to the US DEA.
