A terrorist attack at a hotel near Somalia’s presidential palace resulted in three deaths and 27 injuries. Gunmen attacked the SYL Hotel in Mogadishu but were all killed by Somali security forces. The attackers were reportedly from the terrorist group Al-Shabaab. The US Embassy in Mogadishu strongly condemned the attack and reaffirmed support for Somalia in combating Al-Shabaab. Josep Borrell of the EU also condemned the attack. The United Nations remarked that the incident violated the principles of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
