Five cross-country skiers, including members of the same Swiss family, were found dead on a high Alpine ridge near Switzerland’s Matterhorn after going missing over the weekend. Another skier is still missing. The group had set out in good conditions but faced rapidly worsening weather with freezing temperatures and high avalanche risks. Five victims were from a family in Valais, aged between 21 and 58, with the sixth person from Fribourg. Search efforts were hindered by extreme weather conditions, but the bodies were eventually located and recovered. An investigation is ongoing, and the search for the missing person continues.
