A Roman statue depicting the marble head of an aristocratic woman was unearthed at an English construction site in the Burghley Estate. The statue and a matching bust were found buried and were dated to the first or second century. The discovery, made by excavator operator Greg Crawley, has raised questions about how the priceless artifact ended up at the site. The pieces will be displayed at the estate alongside other sculptures starting on March 16, 2024, when the estate reopens for the season.
