US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned Qatar to pressure Hamas into fulfilling a hostage and ceasefire agreement to end the Gaza conflict or face expulsion from Doha. The US pressure coincided with stalled Hamas-Israel negotiations but led to fresh talks in Doha. While Qatar plays a crucial role due to Hamas members based there, it didn’t comment on relaying the warning to Hamas. Despite ongoing talks, US frustration over slow progress prompted Blinken’s recent message, indicating a desire for quicker results in the negotiations. There is optimism as negotiations between the parties are moving closer to a potential deal.
