The British Museum is taking legal action against former curator Peter Higgs, accusing him of stealing and selling over 1,800 artifacts, including gems and jewelry, from the institution’s collections. A judge has ordered Higgs to return any items in his possession and explain the whereabouts of other missing artifacts. Higgs disputes the allegations and the court has requested PayPal to disclose his eBay transaction history. The museum claims Higgs sold hundreds of stolen items online.
