Calls are increasing for the United Kingdom, a crucial NATO ally, to test its newly developed laser weapon, DragonFire, in Ukraine. The weapon, a laser-directed energy system, has the potential to revolutionize air-defense by offering a cost-effective way to target aerial threats like drones without the need for expensive missiles. Ukraine, facing ongoing drone attacks, sees the technology as essential and is prepared to test it in combat conditions. While the DragonFire is still in the research phase and not yet operational, the UK Ministry of Defense is progressing its development. The US has pledged a $300-million aid package to support Ukraine’s immediate defense needs, including anti-aircraft missiles.
