Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala revealed that Czech intelligence has uncovered a Moscow-backed network spreading Russian propaganda across Europe, including in the European Parliament. The group used a news site based in Prague to discourage EU aid to Ukraine amid the Russian invasion. The Czech Security Information Service found the network’s activities posed a threat to Czech and EU security, aiming to undermine Ukraine’s sovereignty. Some individuals involved have faced sanctions, but the news site continues to operate. The network, financed by Russia, targeted European politicians, including those from Germany’s AfD party, paying them with Russian funds and influencing their 2024 EU election campaigns. Two pro-Kremlin Ukrainian politicians have also been sanctioned in connection to the network’s activities.
