Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel had his murder conviction overturned a decade after being found guilty of killing Clive “Lizard” Williams. Kartel, also known as Adidja Palmer, successfully appealed the conviction to the Privy Council in London, claiming juror bribery tainted the case. The decision now leaves it to Jamaican officials to determine if Kartel will be retried. Following the news, Kartel shared celebratory posts on Instagram. The initial trial, which led to Kartel and three others being convicted in 2014, alleged that Williams was killed over missing guns and that Kartel had directed the fatal beating. Despite his incarceration, Kartel remained a prominent figure in Jamaica’s music scene, collaborating with artists like Rihanna and Missy Elliot and achieving commercial success with hits like “Fever.”
