A 28-year-old Dutch woman, Zoraya ter Beek, is set to undergo euthanasia next month due to her ongoing mental health problems which her psychiatrist believes will not improve. Despite being physically healthy, she has chosen to end her life because of her struggles with depression, autism, and borderline personality disorder. Ter Beek, who once aspired to become a psychiatrist but was unable to pursue her dreams due to her own mental health issues, has made the decision to end her life as she feels tired of living. She plans to be surrounded by her boyfriend as she peacefully passes away on her living room couch. Following her death, no funeral will be held, and her ashes will be scattered in a woodland area she and her partner chose together. Ter Beek expressed some fear of the unknown aspect of death and what may or may not come after. The Netherlands was the first country to legalize euthanasia in 2001, with several other countries and regions following suit.
