Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has issued a stark warning about the escalating threat of conflict in Europe, stating that the continent has entered a “pre-war era.” Tusk highlighted the real possibility of war, emphasizing that any scenario is now feasible. He linked this worrying development to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine two years ago, which disrupted the peace in Europe and led to increased weapons production. Tusk stressed the importance of a united European defense and underlined the need for the EU to be prepared to safeguard its borders and territory. The prime minister also addressed the evolving European mentality towards common defense, citing Germany’s major political parties showing strong support for Ukraine. Amid concerns raised by former US President Trump’s NATO-sceptic views, Tusk emphasized the significance of maintaining transatlantic relations regardless of US leadership.
