Fifty hurt as NZ-bound flight hit by 'technical' issue

A Latam Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner flying from Australia to New Zealand experienced a mid-air “technical event” causing the plane to drop unexpectedly. Fifty passengers were injured, with 12 taken to the hospital upon landing in Auckland. Passengers suffered head injuries with some hitting the ceiling and being thrown from their seats. The cause of the incident is still unknown. Latam Airlines expressed regret over the situation and cancelled the onward flight to Santiago, Chile.
