Finland has chosen to extend the closure of its border with Russia indefinitely due to the threat of manipulated migration. The decision comes after Russia attempted to use an influx of migrants to pressure Helsinki, similar to past incidents in Belarus and Poland. Finland’s Prime Minister cited the potential for a reoccurrence of the previous situation if the border were to reopen. Additionally, concerns about potential maritime migration led to the closure of several crossing points for leisure boating. In a separate development, Ukraine and Finland have signed a long-term security agreement, further solidifying their bilateral relations.
