France has raised its security alert to the highest level following a deadly attack on a Russian concert hall, claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group. President Macron called for an emergency security meeting after the attack in Moscow that killed at least 137 people. The heightened alert level allows for increased security measures, such as armed patrols in public places. This move comes as France prepares to host the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, with significant security concerns surrounding the opening ceremony in July. France has experienced previous jihadist attacks, including the Bataclan massacre in 2015.
