The French government is considering measures like requisitioning and order prioritization to speed up the production of missiles and artillery shells by local defense firms. This action is in response to the crisis in Ukraine and the need for faster delivery to support Ukraine and secure export contracts. There is pressure on defense companies to shorten delivery times for various defense equipment, with a focus on the Aster air-defense missile. The government’s goal is to increase production capacity and accelerate delivery timelines, with plans to enhance production of 155mm shells and AASM Hammer guided bombs. President Emmanuel Macron has also requested the preparation of a new military aid package for Ukraine, indicating a shift in prioritization of military equipment towards supporting Ukraine. France aims to double its order for long-range Aster missiles and increase output of various defense equipment to meet pressing demands.
