Several French government institutions have recently faced cyberattacks of “unprecedented intensity,” though these have been contained. The attacks, occurring just months before the Paris Olympics, targeted state bodies and various ministerial services. Hacker groups, including one identifying as Anonymous Sudan, have claimed responsibility for launching distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks on French government networks. While the attacks have impacted several digital government sectors, specialist measures are being implemented to mitigate the damage. Reports suggest that these attacks are not currently linked to Russia, despite prior concerns due to France’s support for Ukraine.
