The International Court of Justice has issued new provisional measures for Israel in response to a case brought by South Africa, accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza. The ICJ ordered Israel to ensure the provision of urgently needed basic services and humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza, including food, water, electricity, shelter, and medical supplies. Israel is also required to increase the capacity of land crossing points for aid delivery and prevent military acts violating Palestinian rights. The court instructed Israel to report on these measures within one month. The UN stressed the importance of all Member States abiding by the ICJ decisions, emphasizing the court’s independence and role as the principal judicial organ of the UN.
