Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad have outlined four demands as key to the success of ceasefire negotiations with Israel. These include a halt to Israeli aggression, a complete withdrawal of occupation from Gaza, the return of displaced people to northern Gaza, and the provision of aid to meet the needs of Gazans. These demands also extend to the release of Israeli captives. Despite initial disagreements, talks have resumed between Israel and Hamas in Doha and Cairo. Hamas and PIJ reject any political projects not in line with the will of their people and criticize US and Israeli allies for supporting Israel. Israel has continued its military actions in Gaza, going against a recent UN Security Council resolution endorsed by Hamas for a halt to hostilities during Ramadan.
