On Good Friday, hundreds of Christians in Jerusalem walked the Via Dolorosa, but with fewer visitors due to the Israel-Hamas war. The procession was mostly local, with Palestinian Christians and a few tourists. The impact of the war was apparent, with decreased crowds and strict security measures. Despite the somber mood, some shops opened for tourists seeking Catholic souvenirs. Amid the ongoing conflict, prayers were held for peace in the region. The situation also affected Easter celebrations in the West Bank and Gaza. In Rome, Pope Francis missed the procession for health reasons, while in Spain, some processions were canceled due to storms. In Chicago, a Via Crucis procession reenacted scenes from Jesus’ final days.
