An Indian navy warship successfully captured a bulk carrier off the coast of Somalia, rescuing the crew and ending a three-month hijacking by Somali pirates. The vessel, Maltese-flagged MV Ruen, was hijacked in December near the Yemeni island of Socotra. This incident marks a resurgence in piracy, with at least 17 similar events reported by the Indian navy since December. The Indian navy’s efforts included deploying warships and investigating numerous vessels in the region to enhance security against piracy threats.
