NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that an invitation for Ukraine to join NATO would essentially mean its membership, with unanimous agreement among Allies for Ukraine’s eventual inclusion. Stoltenberg emphasized the streamlined process for Ukraine’s accession, contrasting it with the EU’s lengthier procedure. He stressed NATO’s commitment to Ukraine, highlighting the importance of ending the war and preventing future Russian aggression. US Secretary of State Blinken also supported Ukraine’s NATO membership, advocating for a clear pathway for Ukraine to join the alliance. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the need for security guarantees and the ultimate security of NATO membership through Article 5.
