Amit Soussana, an Israeli lawyer taken hostage by Hamas, endured routine beatings and sexual assaults during her 55 days in captivity following the Oct. 7 attack. Her captor, a Hamas soldier known as “Muhammad,” subjected her to violent abuse, including forcing a sexual act on her. Despite sustaining severe injuries, Soussana was moved to various locations and faced continued violence by other guards. After her release, she reported the assaults, although Hamas officials cast doubt on her account. UN reports point to the widespread suffering of hostages, with negotiations ongoing for the release of others still held captive.
