Israel’s military has ended its 14-day siege on Gaza’s largest hospital, Al-Shifa. The Israel Defense Forces withdrew after confirming they had killed Hamas militants and seized weaponry. The situation inside Al-Shifa is dire with hundreds of bodies found, the hospital largely destroyed, and survivors malnourished. The IDF detained 900 suspected militants during the operation. International organizations and officials have condemned the assault, warning of a looming famine in northern Gaza. The IDF’s actions have raised questions about the effectiveness of its efforts to combat Hamas.
