A plan is underway to save Italy’s Torre Garisenda in Bologna from collapse by using equipment that stabilized the Tower of Pisa. The 12th-century Garisenda tower leans at a four-degree angle and was deemed at high risk of collapsing. Pylons and cables, along with steel scaffolding, will be deployed to secure the tower. The operation is estimated to cost around 19 million euros. Once the equipment is adapted, consolidation work on the tower’s masonry will commence. This initiative aims to prevent the historical tower from deteriorating and potentially reopening the nearby Asinelli Tower to the public.
