Japan has engaged in talks with China to address concerns regarding the discharge of treated radioactive wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the sea. The discharges have sparked opposition from fishing groups and neighboring countries, especially China, which has banned Japanese seafood imports. Japanese officials explained the safety measures taken during the discharges, with the process expected to continue for decades. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to expert-level talks, with recent discussions focusing on technical aspects of the discharges. The International Atomic Energy Agency has confirmed the safe implementation of the wastewater release.
