French President Emmanuel Macron has launched a billion-euro Amazonian green investment plan with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in Belem. The investment plan aims to raise funds for public and private investment over the next four years to promote bioeconomy in the Amazon. The leaders are aiming to strengthen ties between France and Brazil and address environmental issues, including deforestation in the Amazon. Additionally, the two countries are collaborating on submarine manufacturing, while navigating challenges such as a stalled free trade agreement between the EU and Mercosur, and differing stances on the war in Ukraine.
