Vaughan Gething, a Zambian-born lawyer, has made history by becoming the first Black head of government in Wales and in all of Europe. He was elected as the Welsh First Minister by the Welsh parliament and approved by King Charles III. Gething, who is 50 years old, is the first Welsh leader to come of age after powers were devolved from the central government in London to national governments. He aims to create a Wales where citizens can celebrate differences and unite. A member of the Labour Party, Gething previously served as Welsh Health Minister and Economy Minister, and now leads a country alongside other non-white leaders in the UK.
