A 79-year-old woman from Minnesota, Gail Mattson, was killed on a safari in Zambia after an elephant charged at the vehicle she was in during a game drive in Kafue National Park. The incident, captured on video, happened suddenly and tragically. The safari company, Wilderness, reported that the elephant was aggressive and the guide was unable to avoid the attack. Mattson’s family confirmed her death, describing her as someone who was enjoying life and being adventurous on the day she passed away. Another guest was injured and received medical treatment, while four others suffered minor injuries. Friends remembered Mattson as a kind and active member of the community who loved embarking on adventures.
