French authorities have revealed that the suspects linked to the recent mass shooting plot in Moscow are part of an ISIS branch known for attempting multiple terrorist attacks in France. The group, identified as ISIS-K or Islamic State Khorasan, has targeted France and other European countries in the past. In response to the shooting in Moscow, which ISIS has claimed responsibility for, France has escalated its terror alert level to the highest, bolstered security measures at key locations, and offered to cooperate with Russia in apprehending the perpetrators. The global threat posed by ISIS-K has put Western nations on high alert, with countries like Italy, Germany, and Serbia increasing security measures in light of recent events. Despite ISIS losing its stronghold in Iraq and Syria, its regional branches like ISIS-K continue to pose a significant risk to Western interests. The U.S. and its allies are closely monitoring the situation to prevent potential attacks. Amidst the concern over extremist threats, tensions have risen between Russia and Ukraine, with Moscow accusing Ukrainian ties to the Moscow attack, a claim that Ukraine vehemently denies.
