The national media have delivered their verdicts on Aston Villa’s 4-0 defeat to Tottenham at Villa Park on Sunday. Unai Emery’s side collapsed in the second half in a huge Premier League clash as James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, Son Heung-min and substitute Timo Werner all scored for Spurs as Villa saw captain John McGinn sent off. Fourth-placed Villa are now just two points above Tottenham in fifth spot, in the battle to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League. Sixth-placed Manchester United also closed the gap on Villa with victory over Everton at Old Trafford, as Villa’s performance and Emery’s tactics were put under scrutiny after the heavy home defeat.
