Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, 74, is set to undergo surgery for a hernia after being diagnosed during a routine examination. The surgery will take place while Israel is in conflict with Hamas in Gaza. Netanyahu expressed optimism about the procedure and stated he will return to work swiftly. Israel’s deputy prime minister will fill in during his absence. Talks between Israel and Hamas are ongoing, with negotiations involving the release of Israeli hostages and a ceasefire. This will be Netanyahu’s second surgery since returning to office in late 2022, following a pacemaker procedure last year, and a hernia surgery in 2013.
