Norwegians are crossing the border to Sweden to buy eggs due to a shortage for Easter. The Nordby shopping center has seen a surge in Norwegian customers purchasing eggs, as they are not only more readily available in Sweden but also cheaper. Egg prices in Sweden are 30% lower than in Norway due to concerns overproduction in Norway and effects of bird flu. High demand and production costs have led to near-historic high egg prices globally. Norway’s high cost of living drives residents to shop in Sweden where products are more affordable due to lower taxes.
