Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, damaged by a fire in April 2019, is undergoing restoration, a process marked by challenges including delays due to the pandemic and the loss of a key project leader. The reconstruction, set to be completed by the end of 2024, has seen significant milestones like the removal of charred scaffolding, restoration of the cathedral’s organ, selection of oak trees for the spire, and securing the cathedral’s structure. The process has involved specialized craftsmen and international support, with key moments like the hoisting of oak trusses and the installation of a symbolic gold rooster on the spire. Notre Dame is nearing its grand reopening with the unveiling of its new spire.
