Nottinghamshire Police has been put under enhanced monitoring by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) due to concerns about its investigations and governance arrangements. The decision comes after the force faced criticism over its handling of a case involving a paranoid schizophrenic who stabbed three people to death. Nottinghamshire Police has been asked to urgently produce an improvement plan, with regular meetings with inspectors to monitor progress. The reasons behind the decision will be included in the latest inspection report due to be published later this year.
