A court in Pakistan has suspended the 14-year jail sentence of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife in a case related to illegally selling state gifts. The suspension will last until after the Eid holidays. Khan is accused of not disclosing assets from the sale of state gifts worth over $500,000 he received during his term as prime minister. The charges were brought by Pakistan’s anticorruption agency, making the couple ineligible for public office for 10 years with a hefty fine imposed. Khan, who heads the main opposition party, has been imprisoned since last year on various charges.
