The Palestinian Authority has formed a new Cabinet to address international pressure for reform. President Mahmoud Abbas announced the new government, featuring mostly unfamiliar faces. The new Prime Minister, Mohammad Mustafa, is tasked with forming a technocratic government and spearheading efforts to rebuild Gaza. The incoming ministers include Ziad Hab al-Rih as Interior Minister and Ashraf al-Awar as Minister for Jerusalem affairs. Despite lacking power in Gaza and facing waning support due to long-standing leadership and lack of elections, the PA aims to regain trust. The US supports a reinvigorated PA to govern Gaza post-war, whereas Israel prefers maintaining security control over Gaza independently. However, Hamas rejects the new government’s legitimacy, urging a power-sharing arrangement with all factions.
