Fatah, the party of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, is criticizing Hamas for the situation in Gaza following an attack on Israel, blaming Hamas for the unfolding “catastrophe.” Fatah slammed Hamas’ leadership living luxuriously in Qatar and their ties to Iran. The dispute escalated after Hamas opposed the appointment of new Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa. Fatah questioned Hamas’ decision-making and called for a Prime Minister armed with a national agenda. Mustafa, an economist with experience at the World Bank, is tasked with uniting the administration, implementing reforms, and combating corruption. Hamas denounced Mustafa’s appointment, calling for unified leadership and democratic elections for Palestinians.
