Brazilian police have recommended that former president Jair Bolsonaro be charged with fraud and criminal association for allegedly conspiring to fabricate a vaccination card before he entered the United States in late 2022. The accusations are linked to false information entered into a health ministry ledger to issue fake vaccine cards for Bolsonaro and his daughter, Laura, using an IP address from the presidential palace. If convicted, Bolsonaro could face years in prison, further increasing political tension in Brazil following his defeat in the 2022 election to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro, who has denied the allegations, has not yet commented on the police recommendation.
