Legislative council member and Bharat Rashtra Samithi party president K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, faces a potential lengthy jail term in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. She was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate for money laundering related to the case and her bail plea was denied by the Supreme Court. If the trial court also rejects her bail, Kavitha may spend several months in jail until the charge sheet is filed. Despite emotional pleas from her lawyer, the court directed an expeditious decision on her bail plea. The ED alleges Kavitha’s involvement with a group of liquor traders seeking to influence the Delhi Excise Policy.
