Researchers have discovered that python meat could be a more sustainable alternative to traditional livestock farming like beef, pork, and chicken. Pythons are highly efficient at converting food into protein and can reproduce rapidly, offering a potential solution for the high demand for high-quality protein with a lower carbon footprint. During a 12-month study on python farms in Southeast Asia, pythons showed rapid growth rates and resilience to disruptions in food supply chains. While some see python meat as a viable sustainable protein source, others caution against increasing animal consumption and advocate for plant-based diets to reduce animal suffering and combat climate change.
