China has launched a new data relay satellite, Queqiao-2, to facilitate communication between lunar landers and rovers on the far side of the Moon and Earth-based controllers. The satellite was deployed by a Long March 8 rocket and will enter an elliptical orbit around the Moon to prepare for the upcoming Chang’e 6 robotic lunar lander mission. This launch is part of China’s broader lunar exploration program, with plans for more missions in the future.
