Russian authorities have arrested a suspected financier of a recent deadly concert hall attack, alleging that Ukraine had provided significant funds to the attackers. The Investigative Committee of Russia claims to have detained another suspect related to the financing of the terrorist act, with eight others already in custody. The attack on Crocus City Hall in Moscow resulted in at least 143 deaths and numerous injuries. While ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack, Russian officials, including Vladimir Putin, have insinuated Ukrainian and Western involvement without presenting concrete evidence. The Investigative Committee asserts that the attackers received money and cryptocurrency from Ukraine for the crime, citing electronic device examinations and financial transaction analysis. Ukraine and its allies dismiss these claims as propaganda, with a U.S. National Security Council spokesman criticizing Russia’s accusations as baseless propaganda.
