Russia launched a massive aerial attack on Ukraine, firing over 150 missiles and drones, including deadly Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles. While Ukraine successfully intercepted many of the munitions, they were unable to stop the Kinzhal missiles. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy acknowledged the need for more advanced air-defense systems to protect the country. The US and other Western partners have been urged to provide additional support to help Ukraine fend off Russian attacks.
