Russian election authorities have reported multiple cases of voters pouring green antiseptic dye into ballot boxes during the presidential election. This dye, known as zelyonka, was previously used in attacks on opposition activists. Incidents were reported in various regions, leading to calls for increased security measures by the Central Election Commission. Those involved claimed ignorance of the legal consequences. Charges have been brought against individuals, including a 62-year-old man facing up to five years in prison for obstructing voting rights. Similar actions were seen in other regions, with suspects facing potential prison time. Despite these incidents, President Vladimir Putin is anticipated to secure a fifth term in the upcoming election, as genuine opposition candidates have been excluded from the ballot.
