In Switzerland, five cross-country skiers who were reported missing during a tour near the Matterhorn mountain have been found dead. The search is ongoing for the sixth skier. The incident occurred in the Valais canton, where conditions such as storms and avalanche risks are preventing rescue attempts. All five victims were from the same family, while the sixth individual was from Fribourg. Zermatt, a popular skiing destination, was the starting point of their tour.
