A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck near Taiwan’s east coast, causing at least seven deaths, injuring hundreds, and trapping dozens in highway tunnels. The quake, Taiwan’s strongest in 25 years, led to collapsed buildings, power outages, and landslides. Aftershocks were felt, prompting tsunami warnings across the region. Search and rescue efforts were underway, with military assistance deployed. Taiwan, prone to earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, experienced its strongest quake since 1999, affecting Hualien County the most. Evacuations were ordered, and damage assessment and relief efforts continued.
