The European Union has pledged an 8 billion-dollar aid package to Egypt to address economic challenges and potential migrant flows to Europe. The deal, signed by Egyptian and EU leaders in Cairo, includes both grants and loans over the next three years. Despite criticism over Egypt’s human rights record, the agreement aims to strengthen cooperation on various fronts, including democracy, human rights, and security. The funding will also support Egypt in managing its borders, especially with Libya, in light of regional conflicts and pressures.
