Brazil and France have announced a joint plan to invest 1 billion euros in the Amazon over the next four years, aiming to protect the rainforest. This initiative involves a collaboration between state-run Brazilian banks and France’s investment agency, with the possibility of including private resources. The two countries’ presidents are meeting to strengthen their bond, enhance rainforest preservation efforts, and promote trade. French President Macron has visited the Amazon to meet Indigenous leaders and express support for rainforest conservation. The visit also addresses concerns about potential oil drilling in the region. Macron decorated an Indigenous leader for his conservation efforts and both leaders aim to combat climate change and poverty through their partnership.
