An Israeli delegation is set to arrive in Cairo for ceasefire talks in Gaza, aiming also to release hostages held by militants. The talks are crucial as the war enters its sixth month and aid is desperately needed to avert a looming famine. Negotiations have faced obstacles, such as disagreements over the return of displaced Gazans and the terms of a cease-fire. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Netanyahu will undergo surgery amidst mounting pressure over the war and calls for a cease-fire. In a significant move, the US abstained from a UN vote for an immediate cease-fire. Amid growing protests in Tel Aviv, Pope Francis has urged for a Gaza cease-fire and increased humanitarian aid. Efforts are being made to deliver aid to Gaza by sea, as previous attempts faced challenges entering the territory.
