Two pilots of an Indonesian airline faced criticism after both fell asleep during a flight in January with over 150 people on board. The pilots were unreachable for around half an hour, causing the plane to veer off course. The commanding pilot allowed the second pilot to rest during the flight, who had expressed fatigue prior to the incident. The incident led to recommendations from the Safety Board to prevent such occurrences, including the development of a detailed checklist for pilots to assess their physical and mental condition before flying. The airline has suspended the two pilots and affirmed its commitment to implementing safety recommendations.
